Shah Mahmood Qureshi Blames Punjab Government for Any Loss of Vision in Adiala Jail

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed deep concern over the deteriorating eyesight of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that if anyone loses their vision in Adiala Jail, the responsibility lies with the jail administration and the Punjab government.

Speaking informally to the media during a court appearance at the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore, Qureshi said, “Hearing about Imran Khan’s eye condition is very distressing; I can do nothing but pray. Prisoners also have rights, and it is the jail administration’s duty to ensure these are met.”

He highlighted several instances of denied medical access due to lack of security, including check-ups for Mian Mahmood Arshad and treatment by Dr. Yasmin Rashid. Qureshi himself is receiving treatment at PIMS hospital but cited security concerns as an obstacle to his own check-ups.

Qureshi held the Punjab government fully accountable, emphasizing, “If anyone loses their eyesight in Adiala Jail, the jail administration and Punjab government are responsible.”

He also criticized remarks by political opponents regarding PTI founder’s family, calling such insensitivity unacceptable. Qureshi concluded by stressing his desire for peace in the country, noting that terrorism in Balochistan is influenced by external factors, and reiterated his support for the government’s stance on national security.
