Indian Woman Who Married in Pakistan Returns to Husband’s Home

An Indian woman, Noor Fatima — formerly known as Sarbjit Kaur — has returned to her husband’s home in Pakistan after being granted permission by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) authorities.
Noor Fatima had arrived in Pakistan three months ago with a group of Sikh pilgrims and later married Nasser Hussain. Following her marriage, authorities detained her, and when she refused to return to India, she was sent to a Dar-ul-Aman (women’s shelter home).
After reviewing her case, the relevant authorities allowed her to leave the shelter and join her husband.
According to reports, Sarbjit Kaur converted to Islam after arriving in Pakistan and adopted the name Noor Fatima. It was also revealed that Noor Fatima and Nasser Hussain first connected through social media in 2016, and their relationship eventually led to marriage.
The development has drawn public attention given the cross-border nature of the marriage.
