New Hurdle for Imran Khan in Foreign Funding Case, Court Grants FIA 2 Days to Complete Report

Islamabad: A fresh challenge has emerged for PTI founder Imran Khan in the ongoing foreign funding case. The Banking Court in Islamabad has granted the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) two days to complete its final challan in the case.
The hearing was conducted by Banking Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakr, with Special Prosecutor Waseeq Malik representing the prosecution.
During the proceedings, Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakr questioned the prosecutor, asking why the challan had not yet been completed. Waseeq Malik replied that letters had been sent to the relevant foreign authorities to obtain their opinions. The judge remarked that the case has been ongoing since 2022, yet the prosecution has shown little interest in expediting it.
The court also mentioned that it was considering issuing a show-cause notice to the investigator and summoning the DG FIA in the next hearing. However, the prosecutor requested a week to 10 days to finalize the challan, asking the court to withhold these orders for the time being.
Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakr instructed the prosecution to demonstrate progress within two days. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing until February 4.
The case, which has been under investigation for several years, remains a key legal challenge for Imran Khan and the PTI leadership.
