Lahore: Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has appealed to citizens to celebrate Basant responsibly and safely.
In her statement, Maryam Aurangzeb announced that free public transport will be provided to all citizens in Lahore on February 6, 7, and 8. The Metro Bus, Orange Line, and rickshaw services will all operate without charge during the festival.
She added that despite lower wind speeds in Lahore, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 178, urging the public not to add to road congestion.
The minister emphasized that citizens should use free public transport to reduce traffic pressure and air pollution. She also noted that indiscriminate actions are being taken against emissions from kilns, factories, and vehicles to curb environmental hazards during the festival.
