Anti-Polio Campaign to Begin Across Balochistan from February 2, Over 2.6 Million Children to Be Vaccinated

**Quetta:** The Balochistan government will launch a province-wide anti-polio vaccination campaign from February 2, aiming to immunize more than 2.6 million children, while strict action will be taken against employees found negligent in their duties.
This was stated by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan while presiding over a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Polio Eradication. He said that the provincial government has taken comprehensive and effective measures to prevent and eradicate polio across Balochistan, emphasizing that complete elimination of the deadly disease is essential.
The chief secretary said that polio eradication remains a top priority of the provincial government, which is continuously focusing on vaccination campaigns, effective monitoring, and community engagement. He noted that the absence of a single polio case reported in the province in 2025 reflects the success of these efforts.
Directing all deputy commissioners, Shakeel Qadir Khan stressed that the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) coverage in their respective districts must exceed 90 percent to ensure the success of the vaccination campaign. He added that all available resources are being utilized to strengthen polio prevention measures, as polio remains a serious and life-threatening disease that must be eliminated under all circumstances.
He further warned that any negligence or lack of commitment by officials and field staff during the anti-polio campaign would not be tolerated, and strict disciplinary action would be taken against those failing to perform their duties.
The meeting also reviewed preparedness for the upcoming campaign, coordination among departments, security arrangements for vaccination teams, and strategies to enhance public awareness and participation to ensure that every eligible child is vaccinated.
