Sindh Health Department Issues Advisory After Nipah Virus Spread in India

KARACHI: Following the spread of the Nipah virus in India, the Sindh Health Department has issued a health advisory for the public, urging precautionary measures to prevent the virus from entering Pakistan.

According to the advisory, the Nipah virus can be transmitted from animals to humans as well as from human to human. However, no cases of the virus have been reported in Pakistan so far.

The advisory outlines that the virus can have multiple causes, and early symptoms include fever, headache, cough, body pain, and vomiting. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any unusual symptoms to health authorities immediately.

The Sindh Health Department said that the situation is being closely monitored. All public and private hospitals have been placed on alert, and medical staff have been instructed to strictly follow the federal health ministry’s guidelines for screening and preventive measures.
