New Details Emerge in Lahore Sewer Incident as Authorities Contradict Early Claims

LAHORE: New details have emerged regarding the body of a woman recovered from a sewer line near Bhati Gate, raising serious questions about the initial response of the authorities.

According to reports, the woman and her daughter were said to have fallen into a sewer hole, a claim first reported by the husband. Rescue teams reached the scene within minutes; however, before the search operation could be completed, the local administration declared the drowning report “fake” and released a statement to the media denying any such incident.

Rescue officials refused to accept the administration’s claim, stating that it was premature to declare the incident fake. Rescue sources further said that, technically, it was not possible for a human to drown in that particular sewer hole without a thorough investigation.

The Lahore administration later stated that the sewer line had been inspected and no accident had occurred. Meanwhile, police said that during initial investigations, a dispute between the husband and wife had come to light, along with allegations of a serious nature. Based on suspicion, police initially claimed that the husband and two other individuals were taken into custody.

However, police later contradicted this statement, saying that no one was currently under arrest. The conflicting statements from different authorities have sparked confusion and concern, with calls for a transparent and comprehensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
