Grand Alliance Balochistan Observes Black Day, Closes Government Offices in Protest, Demands Immediate Release of Arrested Employees

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta):**
The Grand Alliance Balochistan marked a “Black Day” on Wednesday as part of the second phase of protests in support of their demands, including the implementation of the DRA. Government offices across Quetta and other districts were locked, preventing employees from entering, in a show of widespread dissent.

The protests come after police action during earlier demonstrations and sit-ins, which resulted in the arrest of Grand Alliance leaders and members, who were subsequently sent to various jails. In response, the second phase of protests saw the Alliance expand its activities, forming committees to visit government offices, close them, lock them, and remove employees from inside.

Speaking during the protest, Alliance members stated that the DRA and other demands represent their fundamental and constitutional rights. They accused the provincial government of repeatedly failing to honor commitments to address these demands, instead adopting a “harsh and unjust” approach that disrupted their peaceful protests.

The members also condemned police actions during previous demonstrations, including shelling and baton charges, and the arrest of officials and members in harsh winter conditions, with restrictions even on visits and meetings. Key leaders were reportedly transferred to Mach Jail, raising concerns among the Alliance over the treatment of detainees.

The Grand Alliance emphasized that such measures will only strengthen their resolve and reaffirmed their commitment to pursue their demands. They warned the government to accept their demands and release all arrested employees immediately, or face intensified protests in the future.
