Opposition Alliance Expresses Concern Over Imran Khan’s Health, Says He Was Taken to Hospital Without Disclosure

Islamabad: The opposition alliance has expressed serious concern over the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, claiming that the PTI founder was shifted to a hospital but neither party leadership nor his family was informed about his medical condition.

The concerns were raised during a joint press conference by opposition and PTI leaders, including PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.

Barrister Gohar said the last meeting with Imran Khan took place on December 20, and no further meetings have been allowed since then. He added that petitions seeking permission for meetings were filed, but no progress has been made.

He said a newspaper report claimed that Imran Khan was taken to a hospital and later returned to jail, triggering anxiety among party members and family, as no details were shared regarding the illness that led to his hospitalization. Barrister Gohar also criticized constitutional amendments being made “for the sake of power,” saying they are damaging the credibility of the rulers. He demanded that the ban on meetings should not continue until February 8 and that immediate access to Imran Khan be granted.

“Rulers Are Losing Public Trust,” Says Raja Nasir Abbas

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said reports of Imran Khan being taken to a hospital without informing his family or party are deeply troubling. He warned that such actions are further eroding public trust in the government.

He claimed that the public had already rejected the rulers on February 8, despite all obstacles, and that political suppression had failed. He added that if Imran Khan were free today, some international decisions might have been different, and criticized the government’s stance on the Gaza issue, saying no effective role was played.

He further said that attempts to silence political voices by withdrawing election symbols and restricting corner meetings had backfired. According to him, the political crisis has worsened since the February 8 elections, unemployment has increased, farmers have suffered losses, and therefore February 8 will be observed as a “Black Day.”

“Denying Meetings Is Unacceptable,” Salman Akram Raja

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said denying meetings with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi is unacceptable under any circumstances. He clarified that Imran Khan’s personal physician has no political affiliation, yet access is still being denied.

He said a petition in this regard has been deferred by the Islamabad High Court and demanded immediate permission for meetings with Imran Khan’s family and personal doctor, calling the situation blatant injustice. He added that while political suppression is ongoing, the party will not take any step against the Constitution and law, and urged the public to express their resentment peacefully.

Call for Immediate Access, Says Asad Qaiser

Senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser said a newspaper report revealed that Imran Khan was taken to PIMS Hospital, Islamabad, for treatment, which has caused grave concern. He demanded that Imran Khan’s family and party leadership be allowed to meet him immediately.

He remarked that “the country is currently witnessing lawlessness, Pakistan has turned into a banana republic, and the government openly claims it does not recognize laws or courts.”

The opposition leaders reiterated their demand for transparency regarding Imran Khan’s health and immediate restoration of his right to meet family, doctors, and party leaders.
