Balochistan Government Approves Dissolution of Religious Affairs Department

Quetta: The Balochistan government has approved the dissolution of the Provincial Department of Religious Affairs. Funds amounting to PKR 4 billion, which had been lying in the Zakat Fund for the past four years, will now be distributed among eligible individuals through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Following this decision, 400 to 450 vacant positions in the department will be abolished, and the department’s property, vehicles, offices, and furniture will be transferred to the Board of Revenue.

Officials stated that staff posted at the secretariat will be transferred to the Department of Administration, while personnel at the district level will be placed under Deputy Commissioners and those at the division level under Commissioners.

The provincial government expects to issue the official notification for the department’s closure within a week.
