Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Dies in Plane Crash

MUMBAI/BARAMATI:Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of India’s western state of Maharashtra, died on Wednesday in a plane crash, Indian TV channels reported.
According to media reports, Pawar’s chartered aircraft had departed from Mumbai and was attempting an emergency landing due to a technical malfunction when it crashed in an open field near Baramati city. Television footage showed the wreckage burning, with thick smoke rising from the site. Debris from the aircraft was scattered over a wide area.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the crash. Initial reports suggest the plane caught fire after hitting the ground.
The news has sent shockwaves through political circles across Maharashtra and India. Security and rescue teams have cordoned off the area and launched investigations into the incident.
