PTIAC Signals Possible “Jail Bharo” Movement After Sentencing of Iman Mazari and Her Husband

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily): The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan (TTAP) has hinted at launching a “Jail Bharo” (court arrest) movement following the sentencing of Iman Mazari and her husband.

According to Express News, TTAP chief, opposition leader, and Member of the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai stated that the party may consider starting a jail bharo movement in response to the court’s decision. “It is possible that we will announce a jail bharo movement as well. Then we will see how many people they can put behind bars,” he said.

The leadership of Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan met Iman Mazari’s mother, former federal minister Dr. Shireen Mazari, at Mazari House and expressed full solidarity with the family.

Following the meeting, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, and Barrister Gohar addressed the media and strongly condemned the sentence awarded to Iman Mazari.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that authoritarianism has been imposed on Pakistan, adding that anyone who believes democracy still exists in the country should reconsider. He warned that the nature of recent decisions reflects an attempt to turn Pakistan into a state like North Korea or Egypt.

He further stated that the reality is that authorities want to silence all voices raised for rights, and anyone who dares to speak out is being suppressed.

The opposition leaders termed the verdict unjust and reiterated their commitment to resisting what they described as the erosion of constitutional rights and democratic values in the country.
