PkMAP Expresses Concern Over Low Gas Pressure in Quetta Amid Severe Cold and Snowfall

**Quetta:** The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed serious concern over the sharp decline in gas pressure across Quetta during an ongoing severe cold wave and recent snowfall, blaming negligence on the part of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
In a joint statement, PkMAP Provincial President Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan, Provincial Senior Vice President and Quetta District Secretary Syed Sharaf Agha, Provincial Vice President Majid Khan Achakzai, Provincial General Secretary Kabir Afghan, along with other provincial executives, said that SSGC has failed to ensure uniform gas supply across all areas of Quetta.
They stated that in most populated areas, consumers and residents are deprived of gas supply, causing severe hardship during extreme cold and snowfall. The situation has been further aggravated by a sudden increase in the prices of alternative fuel sources, adding to the public’s difficulties.
The party demanded that Sui Southern Gas Company ensure uninterrupted gas supply at full pressure on an equal basis in all areas of Quetta. The statement pointed out that despite clear directives from the federal government banning gas load-shedding across Balochistan and instructing authorities to ensure continuous supply, SSGC has not shown seriousness in addressing the issue.
PkMAP urged all zonal, sub-zonal and regional offices, as well as the managing director and general managers of SSGC, to immediately ensure proper gas pressure in Quetta, Pishin and Ziarat districts to provide relief to the public during the harsh winter.
The party also stressed that ensuring gas supply in areas like Ziarat is crucial to prevent indiscriminate cutting of precious forests, which residents resort to due to the unavailability of gas.
