Balochistan Government Expands Women Entrepreneurship Drive, CM Inaugurates First Women Market in Gwadar

Gwadar: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has inaugurated the province’s first women market in Gwadar, calling it a major step toward promoting women’s economic empowerment and financial independence.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, provincial assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, and Secretary Women Development Department Saira Atta. The initiative is being widely seen as a landmark project aimed at strengthening women’s participation in economic activities in the region.
According to officials, the Gwadar Women Market initially comprises 14 shops, where women entrepreneurs are engaged in various small businesses, showcasing their skills and generating income opportunities. The project is expected to serve as a model for similar initiatives across the province.
During his visit, Chief Minister Bugti interacted with women shopkeepers and inquired about their experiences, challenges, and suggestions. He emphasized that empowering women remains a top priority of the provincial government.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that such initiatives not only strengthen women’s economic independence but also contribute significantly to overall economic growth. He described the Gwadar Women Market as an effective platform to highlight women’s potential and assured that the government would continue to provide all necessary facilities to make the project more successful.
He further announced that the scope of women-friendly business initiatives, including women markets, would be expanded to other districts of Balochistan so that more women can benefit from economic opportunities.

CM Bugti reiterated that sustainable development is not possible without the active participation of women in the economy, adding that the government is committed to integrating women into the mainstream through practical measures.
He said projects like the Gwadar Women Market would promote social and economic stability in the province and assured continued government support for women’s development and welfare to ensure prosperity and progress across Balochistan.
