BAP Criticizes Contradictory Stance of Political and Religious Parties on Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act

Quetta (Online): The central spokesperson of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has expressed serious concern over what he termed contradictory statements and conduct of certain nationalist and religious political parties regarding the Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act, both inside and outside parliament.

In a statement, the BAP spokesperson said that the party maintains the same position in parliament as it does before the public, while unfortunately some political and religious parties support the Act within parliamentary committees but mislead the public outside by staging protests, creating unrest, and pursuing court cases. He described this behavior as a failed attempt to deceive the people.

The spokesperson said there is a clear contradiction between the words and actions of some parties represented in parliament. According to him, these parties endorse the Mines and Minerals Act in parliamentary committees, yet outside parliament they resort to protests, noise, and legal tactics to misguide the public.

He alleged that a religious party supported the Act in the committee and merely staged a symbolic suspension and later restoration of its lawmaker’s party membership to mislead the public, while its stance inside parliament remained supportive. Similarly, he claimed that a nationalist party had remained involved in running the former government of Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo from behind the scenes for a long time, and one of its current lawmakers also supported the Act in the committee, despite the party portraying itself as opposition before the public.

The spokesperson further raised questions about the conduct of other Baloch and Pashtun nationalist parties, alleging that while sitting on opposition benches in the Balochistan Assembly, their members continue to benefit from government and personal privileges. He said these parties claim opposition slogans before the public while enjoying government benefits, which amounts to deception.

He added that maintaining one position inside parliament while organizing protests, court actions, and public agitation outside on the Mines and Minerals Act is equivalent to keeping the public in the dark. He also criticized non-parliamentary elements, rejected by the public and having no role in parliament, for attempting to mislead people through meetings and press statements.

The BAP spokesperson emphasized that the Balochistan Awami Party is the only political party that has not maintained any contradiction between its words and actions. He said the party has openly presented to the public the same stance it has adopted in parliament.

He concluded by saying that the people of Balochistan now need to recognize the true faces of such parties, reaffirming that BAP will continue to uphold its principled and clear position and present facts honestly before the public.
