CM Sindh Vows No Disruption in Free Cardiac Treatment at NICVD

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that no obstruction will be tolerated in the provision of **free treatment for heart diseases** at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).
The assurance was given during the **84th meeting of the NICVD Governing Body**, chaired by the Chief Minister. During the briefing, it was informed that NICVD is currently facing a **financial deficit of Rs 4.6 billion**.
According to a spokesperson, Executive Director NICVD **Professor Tahir Sagheer** briefed the meeting, after which the Chief Minister decided to **restore the legal status of NICVD**. Several key decisions were taken to safeguard the hospital’s future and ensure continuity of services.
The Chief Minister approved a **grant-in-aid of Rs 15.5 billion** for the hospital’s operational matters and also sanctioned the **immediate appointment of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)**.
Murad Ali Shah stated that NICVD would require an **additional Rs 3.5 billion grant in the fiscal year 2025–26**, adding that all legal ambiguities would be removed to enable the institution to continue serving the public without interruption.
