Election Commission Suspends Membership of 28 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Members Over Non-Submission of Asset Statements

Peshawar: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification suspending the membership of 28 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for failing to submit details of their assets and liabilities for the financial year 2024–25.
According to the notification, the suspended lawmakers will remain ineligible to participate in any legislative business or assembly sessions until they submit the required asset and liability statements within the prescribed timeframe.
The suspended members include Humayun Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Muhammad Rashad Khan, Ibadullah Khan, Zahid Chanzeb, Ikramullah, Nazir Ahmed Abbasi, Murtaza Khan, Zarshad Khan, Muhammad Zahir Shah, Ihtisham Ali, Khalid Khan, Arbab Muhammad Waseem Khan, Samiullah Khan, Zahir Khan, Malik Tariq Awan, Zar Alam Khan, Mian Muhammad Umar, Ashfaq Ahmed, Shah Abu Turab Khan Bangash, Muhammad Sajjad, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Hisham, Inamullah Khan and Asif Khan.
In addition, the memberships of women lawmakers elected on reserved seats — Afshan Hussain, Jameela Paracha, Syeda Sonia Hussain and Khadija Bibi — have also been suspended for failing to submit asset declarations.
The Election Commission reiterated that all suspended members will regain their parliamentary status only after complying with the legal requirement of submitting their asset and liability statements.
