Government Announces Free Rickshaw Rides for Basant Celebrations

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):**
The government has announced a special facility to provide free travel in rickshaws along with public transport for residents of Lahore on the occasion of Basant.

According to sources, around 10,000 rickshaws will be made available across the city to offer free rides to citizens. Progress is underway on agreements with ride-hailing companies *Yango* and *inDrive* to arrange the service. Under the proposed agreement, both companies will provide rickshaws for three days, while they will also run free promotional and advertising campaigns during Basant.

Sources said that these rickshaws will be available in different areas of the city, and passengers will not need to book rides online. Citizens will be able to board rickshaws from anywhere and travel within the city free of charge.

In addition, public transport within Lahore will also be free during Basant. Free bus services will also operate from other districts of the division to Lahore. The primary objective of providing free transport facilities is to minimize the use of motorcycles and reduce traffic congestion during the Basant festivities.
