Mumbai:Bollywood actress and television personality Archana Puran Singh has been diagnosed with a rare medical condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
The revelation about her deteriorating health was made by her son, Ayushmaan Sethi, through a video shared on Instagram. According to Ayushmaan, Archana developed the condition in 2025 after sustaining a wrist injury during the shooting of the film *“Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.”* The injury later led to CRPS, permanently affecting her hand.
Despite suffering from severe and persistent pain, Ayushmaan said that his mother continued working in films and web series. He added that at the age of 60, Archana also launched her own YouTube channel, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination.
**What is CRPS?**
Medical experts describe Complex Regional Pain Syndrome as a chronic neurological pain disorder in which pain experienced after an injury is far more intense and long-lasting than normal. In many cases, the pain continues even after the original injury has healed.
Doctors explained that in CRPS, the nervous system fails to regulate pain signals properly, causing the brain and spinal cord to send exaggerated pain messages. The pain is often described as burning or stabbing, and even mild touch or slight temperature changes can trigger extreme discomfort.
Additional symptoms may include swelling of the affected limb, changes in skin color, excessive sweating, stiffness, and muscle weakness.
Doctors have clarified that while CRPS is not a life-threatening condition, it is a life-altering disease. They emphasized the importance of awareness so that patients can seek timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
