Sohail Afridi Accused of Lying on Behalf of Afghan Government, Says Federal Information Minister

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has sharply criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and hypocrisy by speaking as a spokesperson for the Afghan government.
Responding to Afridi’s recent statement on social media platform X, Tarar called his remarks “highly condemnable and shameful.” He stated that the entire world has witnessed evidence of the Afghan Taliban regime supporting terrorists, and undeniable proof has emerged that Afghan territory has been used to facilitate terrorist activities.
Tarar said, “Sohail Afridi has taken falsehood and hypocrisy to an extreme. The Pakistani nation has made immense sacrifices while confronting terrorists, yet those who promote disorder provide support to them whenever they speak.”
He further emphasized that groups seeking to disrupt Pakistan’s progress, including extremist organizations, cannot accept the country’s development, which is why Pakistan is repeatedly targeted. Tarar warned Afridi to exercise caution and suggested that such statements undermine national unity and security.
This marks the latest episode in the ongoing political dispute between federal authorities and the KP provincial government over counterterrorism policies and regional security narratives.
