Government Finalizes Strategy for Talks with Opposition

*Islamabad:* Following directives from the Prime Minister, the government has finalized its strategy for negotiations with the opposition. The Prime Minister has given the National Assembly Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq, the green signal to engage in talks with the opposition.

Sources say the government delegation is ready for negotiations at the Speaker’s request; however, the government has decided not to hold discussions with unelected representatives. Talks will be conducted exclusively with elected members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Meanwhile, despite the Speaker’s offer, the opposition remains silent. The opposition is adamant about appointing Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the Leader of the Opposition, and no negotiations will take place before this decision. The last meeting with PTI at the Speaker’s chamber focused on securing Achakzai’s appointment as opposition leader.

The Speaker has invited PTI members to visit his chamber for discussions. The opposition, however, has not formally responded yet. Upon the opposition’s consent, the Speaker may also convene a parliamentary committee meeting to facilitate the process.
