CM Sarfraz Bugti Sets Example of Justice and Compassion, Embraces Rickshaw Driver, Provides Funds for New Vehicle; Police Officer Suspended

Quetta: In a remarkable display of justice and human compassion, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti embraced rickshaw driver Abdul Nabi Mengal, provided him financial assistance for the purchase of a new rickshaw, and ordered the suspension of the police officer involved in the incident.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Bugti met Abdul Nabi Mengal, comforted him by embracing him and expressing full solidarity, even kissing him on the forehead. The Chief Minister announced immediate financial support to compensate for the driver’s economic loss and to help him purchase a new rickshaw. The meeting followed a distressing incident on Airport Road, Quetta, where the rickshaw driver, under severe mental stress due to alleged misconduct by a traffic police officer, set his own vehicle on fire.

Taking strict notice of the incident, the Chief Minister ordered the immediate suspension of the traffic police official involved and directed that a transparent investigation be conducted. He made it clear that mistreatment of citizens and misuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that police officers are meant to serve the public and protect their dignity, warning that any official found deviating from their duties would face action without discrimination. Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he stated that the Balochistan government stands firmly with hardworking citizens and the underprivileged, and will take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
