KP Government Approves Key Decisions for New Motorways

**Islamabad (Daily Qudrat):** The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken major decisions regarding the construction of new motorways in the province.
A meeting on flagship road sector projects was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi. During the meeting, detailed progress reviews were conducted on the Swat Motorway Phase Two, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) Motorway, and Dir Motorway projects, and significant decisions were finalized.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed that construction work on Swat Motorway Phase Two begin at the earliest, emphasizing that the project is a provincial flagship initiative and all technical and administrative issues must be resolved without delay. The 80-kilometer Swat Motorway Phase Two will be constructed from Chakdara Interchange to Fatehpur, featuring nine interchanges and seven bridges over the Swat River at various points.
Sohail Afridi also indicated that the groundbreaking for the Peshawar to DI Khan Motorway, spanning 365 kilometers, will take place soon. This project will include 19 interchanges and two tunnels, and both it and the Swat Motorway Phase Two will be completed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Regarding the Dir Motorway, the meeting approved that the project will be fully financed and constructed using provincial resources. The Chief Minister instructed that all legal and administrative requirements for the commencement of work be completed promptly, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring development and prosperity for the people in remote areas.
