Balochistan Government Imposes Six-Month Ban on Strikes and Lockdowns in Educational Institutions

**Quetta:** The Government of Balochistan has declared educational services as “essential services” and imposed a six-month ban on strikes, lockouts, or any illegal disruptions in schools and educational institutions across the province. The move aims to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of educational activities in the public interest.
According to Notification No. SO(Judicial) 1-12/2025-Edn:/1028-37 issued by the School Education Department, the Balochistan Essential Education Services Act, 2019, already in force, grants legal authority to take action against any educational staff or personnel involved in strikes or unlawful closures. The notification empowers authorities to impose penalties for violations under the Act.
Under Section 6 of the Balochistan Essential Education Services Act, 2019, the Education Department has directed that all educational institutions in the province must operate without disruption for the next six months. The ban takes immediate effect, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining continuity and stability in the province’s education system.
