AI-Based Recruitment, Data-Driven Accountability to Drive Balochistan Reforms: CM Bugti

QUETTA: A meeting of the Secretaries Committee, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday to review ongoing development projects, reforms in various sectors and the performance of provincial departments over the past two and a half years.

Provincial ministers Mir Sadiq Umrani, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Saleem Khan Khosa and Mir Shoaib Nosherwani also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Balochistan Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman Panizai briefed the participants on the implementation of the DHIS2 digital health system. He said digital data reporting and reporting compliance in the health sector had improved significantly.

He said the scope of DHIS2 would be further expanded to include the digitalisation of primary healthcare, artificial intelligence, local innovation and research.

Referring to his recent visit to Oslo, the health secretary said Balochistan’s digital health and reform initiatives had been appreciated at an international-level forum. He said the effective implementation of DHIS2 and the use of data in Balochistan had been recognised as an important development.

He added that, with the cooperation of the HISP Centre at the University of Oslo, steps were being taken to promote joint research, technical exchanges and the international introduction of Balochistan’s digital health model.

The meeting was also informed about efforts to establish a strong DHIS2 core team in the Health Department and enhance the capacity of relevant staff.

Expressing satisfaction over the performance of provincial departments during the past two and a half years, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said continuity in ongoing reforms would be maintained, with a focus on merit and AI-based recruitment.

He stressed the need to make more effective use of modern technology and data-driven systems to improve public service delivery.

The chief minister said improvement was not possible without digital systems and data-based accountability, emphasizing the need to strengthen technology-driven governance and institutional performance.

The provincial ministers praised the performance of the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, saying important steps had been taken to introduce reforms in various sectors, promote merit and transparency, and improve public services.

They said improvements in the development process, institutional reforms and the use of modern technology were key elements of the provincial government’s reform agenda.

The ministers described AI-based recruitment and a merit-based system as crucial for the future of Balochistan and expressed their commitment to further advancing the reform process. They assured the chief minister of their continued full cooperation in implementing the provincial government’s reform agenda.
