Religious Scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza Reveals Proximity to Imran Khan in Adiala Jail

Islamabad: Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has disclosed that during their imprisonment in Adiala Jail, he and former Prime Minister Imran Khan were separated by just a single wall.
Speaking on a podcast with journalist Irshad Bhatti, Mirza revealed that the section of the jail where he was held had three spinning machines (chakis) for three inmates. According to him, Imran Khan was placed behind the wall of Mirza’s chaki, where six chakis were allocated to him along with an attendant (mashqati).
Mirza shared that occasionally he could hear Imran Khan speaking with his attendant, mostly about cricket, and not politics. He added that Khan had access to a television and was provided with two newspapers.
According to Mirza, Khan was served raw meat, which was cooked by his attendant, and the aroma of ghee often filled the area. Khan used to have two meals a day—breakfast at 9 am and lunch at 3 pm. Mirza noted that after November 4, he could no longer hear Khan’s voice.
Later, he learned from jail staff that Imran Khan had been transferred to another section of the jail where sunlight was available.
