JUI-P Senator Abdul Wasi Criticizes PIA Privatization, Urges Establishment to Avoid Political Interference

Loralai (Daily Qudrat Quetta) – Senator and provincial head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-P), Maulana Abdul Wasi, strongly criticized the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and urged the establishment to refrain from political interference.

Addressing gatherings at Madrassa Makhzan-ul-Uloom and Kali Chanali in Loralai, Maulana Wasi stated that while JUI-P considers politics an act of worship, other parties treat it as a source of commissions and corruption. He emphasized that Islam should be the guiding system of the country, leaving no space for secularism.

He condemned the sale of PIA for PKR 135 billion, highlighting that the government would only receive PKR 10 billion from the deal, calling it “unacceptable.” He further argued that if the government cannot manage state institutions properly, it has no right to govern.

Maulana Wasi also alleged that the government intends to bring private religious seminaries under state control, describing it as a misguided approach. He warned the establishment to abandon political intervention and focus on constitutional responsibilities.

Regarding Gaza, he made it clear that the government would not be allowed to deploy the military to disarm Hamas. He also urged opposition parties to unite against the “fake elections” of February 8, stating that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will call on the public to take to the streets at the appropriate time.
