Imad Wasim Announces Divorce from Wife After Long-Standing Differences

**Islamabad:** Renowned Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his decision to divorce his wife, citing long-standing differences that could not be resolved despite prolonged efforts.

In a statement shared on social media, Imad Wasim said that after careful consideration and years of unresolved issues, he has formally filed for divorce. He requested the public and media to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

“I kindly ask everyone to respect our privacy, refrain from using or sharing old pictures, and please avoid referring to her as my wife going forward,” he wrote. He also urged people not to believe or spread misleading statements regarding the matter.

The cricketer warned that any attempt to defame or unnecessarily involve others in this personal issue would be addressed through proper legal channels if required. Clarifying his responsibilities as a father, Imad said he remains fully committed to caring for his children with complete responsibility.

Reports of differences between Imad Wasim and his wife had been circulating for some time, including rumors of personal affairs, though neither party had previously confirmed or denied them. However, vague social media posts by his wife had drawn public attention in recent months.

Earlier this year in July, his wife Sania Ashfaq shared a picture of their son on social media, writing, “I carried you in my womb for nine months. May Allah give me more strength for the journey ahead, Zayan.”

It is pertinent to note that Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2024. During his career, he represented Pakistan in 55 One Day Internationals and 75 T20 Internationals, delivering several memorable performances for the national side.
