Rain, Thunderstorms and Snowfall Likely in Balochistan Next Week: Met Office

Quetta: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in Balochistan during the coming week, with snowfall expected over mountainous areas.

According to the Met Office, a new westerly weather system is likely to enter the western parts of the country from the night of December 29. The system is expected to intensify from December 30 and affect upper and central regions of the country on December 31, remaining active in the upper areas until the morning of January 2, 2026.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in various parts of Balochistan from the night of December 29 to December 31. Areas likely to be affected include Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musa Khel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chaghi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan.

The Met Office has also warned of possible snowfall over mountainous regions during this period and has advised concerned authorities to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
