Historic Welfare Package Announced for Families of Martyrs and Police Employees in Balochistan

**Quetta:** Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has announced a historic enhancement in financial assistance for the families of police martyrs and employees under a newly upgraded “Shuhada Package.” The package aims to provide substantial support to the children and families of deceased, retired, and serving police personnel.
IGP Muhammad Tahir said that the financial assistance for martyrs’ families has been doubled from PKR 100,000 to PKR 200,000, while officers severely injured on duty will now receive PKR 100,000, up from PKR 10,000, and minor injuries will be compensated at PKR 25,000 instead of PKR 5,000. Funeral expenses for martyrs have also been increased to PKR 75,000 within the province and PKR 100,000 if the body is transported outside, with additional allocations for other burial-related costs.
Support for marriages has been significantly enhanced, with financial aid for police employees increased from PKR 12,500 to PKR 50,000. Assistance for daughters of martyrs and deceased officers has been raised from PKR 50,000 to PKR 200,000, and support for two daughters of serving or retired employees has been increased from PKR 25,000 to PKR 100,000.
Furthermore, widows of deceased employees will now receive increased monthly financial assistance: Grade 1–11 widows from PKR 7,500 to PKR 12,000, Grade 12–15 from PKR 8,750 to PKR 14,000, Grade 16–17 from PKR 10,000 to PKR 16,000, and Grade 18 from PKR 12,600 to PKR 20,000. The children of police personnel will also receive annual support increased from PKR 12,000 to PKR 18,000.
The package includes scholarships for police children to attend Balochistan Cadet and Residential Colleges based on merit, with tuition fees covered by the Police Welfare Fund. Special awards will also be given to students achieving top positions in matriculation and intermediate exams under the Balochistan Board: PKR 50,000 for first position, PKR 40,000 for second, and PKR 30,000 for third.
IGP Muhammad Tahir emphasized that martyrs are “the crown of our forehead” and that supporting their families and the welfare of police employees is the department’s foremost duty, reflecting an unprecedented step in the history of Balochistan Police.
