PPP Leader Haji Ali Madad Jatka Urges Postponement of Quetta Local Elections Due to Severe Cold

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Balochistan Assembly member Haji Ali Madad Jatka has petitioned the court to postpone the upcoming local government elections in Quetta, citing extreme cold weather conditions that have made it difficult for residents to participate.

Speaking on the issue, Jatka said that the severe weather is disrupting daily life in the provincial capital, creating significant challenges for polling staff, security personnel, and voters. He added that many residents of Quetta have temporarily moved to other provinces, making election logistics extremely challenging.

Jatka emphasized that the local elections, which are scheduled after eight months, should be announced only after the full term is completed, ensuring the safety and convenience of the public. He stated, “The local government system is the foundation of democracy, and PPP supports its implementation, but elections should take place when citizens can exercise their right to vote without fear or hardship.”

He urged the Election Commission to consider the ground realities and weather conditions in Quetta and make a timely and clear decision regarding the local elections to avoid administrative confusion. Jatka assured that PPP will support any decision that ensures transparency, fairness, and public interest.
