Strong Condemnation Over Arrest and Alleged Mistreatment of Political Workers in Quetta

Quetta (News Desk) The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party has strongly condemned the arrest of party provincial office secretary Nida Muhammad Sangar and Pashtunkhwa Students Organization (PSO) office secretary Zohaib Khan Kabzai, along with alleged mistreatment and inhumane treatment at Balochistan’s Bijli Road Police Station.

In a press release issued from the party’s provincial secretariat, the party termed the arrests politically motivated and based on what it described as a false and baseless FIR. The statement claimed that political activists are being harassed and implicated in fabricated cases, which it said is a clear violation of constitutional rights, democratic values, and civil liberties.

The party alleged that both detained workers were subjected to physical and mental torture after their arrest, and that access to family members, lawyers, and party leadership was restricted. It further claimed that basic facilities such as food and drinking water were denied during their detention, which it called a violation of human rights and legal procedures.

The press release stated that such treatment of political activists is unacceptable in any democratic society and warned that suppressing dissent through coercion and unlawful tactics undermines public trust in state institutions and creates political unrest.

The party further warned that if the alleged conduct continues and action is not taken against responsible officials, it reserves the right to stage protests outside the offices of the Inspector General of Police, DIG offices, and other relevant authorities, exercising all constitutional and democratic options.

It also demanded that the Inspector General of Police Balochistan take immediate notice of the matter and order a transparent and impartial investigation into the allegations, including reported torture, restrictions on meetings, and denial of basic facilities. The party urged strict legal action against any officials found guilty of misconduct or abuse of authority.

Reaffirming its stance, the party said it will continue its struggle for the protection of democratic rights, human dignity, and the rule of law, and will raise its voice against all forms of injustice and political victimization.
