Chicken Prices Surge in Karachi, Rs. 200 Hike Per Kilogram

Karachi: Chicken prices in Karachi have risen sharply again, with an increase of Rs. 200 per kilogram over the past two days.

According to private TV channel Sama News, chicken that was previously sold for Rs. 500 to 550 per kilogram is now priced between Rs. 750 and 850 in the market.

The government has set the official chicken price at Rs. 670 per kilogram, but market rates continue to exceed this limit. Shopkeepers claim that poultry farmers are supplying chicken at higher costs, making it impossible to sell at the government-prescribed rates.

The sudden price hike has added pressure on consumers, who are struggling to afford basic protein sources amid rising food costs.
