Banks Across Pakistan to Remain Closed on December 25

Islamabad: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a public holiday for banks across the country on December 25 in connection with the birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

According to an official notification issued by the SBP, all offices of the State Bank, commercial banks, development finance institutions, microfinance banks and other financial institutions will remain closed on Thursday, December 25. As a result, routine banking operations, including over-the-counter transactions, clearing and settlement services, will remain suspended throughout the day.

The State Bank has advised the general public and the business community to complete their banking and financial matters in advance to avoid any inconvenience during the holiday.

The central bank clarified that ATM services will continue to operate as usual; however, temporary disruptions may occur at some locations due to technical or operational reasons. Online banking, mobile applications and other digital payment services will remain available in accordance with individual banks’ policies.

It is pertinent to note that December 25 is observed nationwide as the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. On this occasion, various government and private institutions organize ceremonies, seminars and speech competitions, while the national flag is hoisted on public buildings to pay tribute to the services and legacy of the Founder of the nation.
