Debate on Creation of New Provinces to Be Held in Parliament in October: Tariq Fazal Chaudhry
ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has announced that a debate on the creation of new provinces will be held in Parliament in October.
Speaking to the media, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said Parliament was the proper forum for discussing the issue of new provinces.
He said sessions of the National Assembly and Senate would be held in October, during which the matter of creating new provinces would be debated.
The federal minister also said that Islamabad was moving towards adopting a new governance model.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had called for the issue of provinces to be debated in the National Assembly rather than at business forums, saying that democracy was the solution to all of Pakistan’s problems.
Speaking to the media in London, Bilawal said the PPP had a clear position on the issue of provinces. He added that if the existing system had failed, the matter should be formally debated in the National Assembly.
