Sadiq Khan Achakzai Criticizes Government Parties for Double Policy on Local Elections in Quetta

**Quetta:** Sadiq Khan Achakzai, head of the Mazloom Awami Tehreek Pakistan, has criticized government parties for their contradictory stance on the upcoming local government elections, stating that while they oppose the elections, they are simultaneously participating in them. Speaking at SK House during a meeting with his party’s local election candidates and visiting delegations, Achakzai said that local elections are essential for grassroots democracy and providing basic services to the public.
He highlighted that the provincial government and certain political parties have historically tried to deny Quetta its right to local governance, and the same opposition is being witnessed today. Achakzai described this behavior as contradictory and hypocritical politics, pointing out that government parties have launched development schemes in Quetta in violation of election laws while actively contesting the elections.
He urged the public to support Mazloom Awami Tehreek Pakistan’s candidates, promising that, God willing, the party would transform Quetta’s future. Achakzai emphasized that the local elections must be held on December 28 without delay, as they are crucial for the city’s democratic and administrative development.
