Sit-in Outside Adiala Jail: FIR Registered Against Aleema Khan, 400 Others

Rawalpindi: A criminal case has been registered against Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, along with around 400 others for staging a sit-in outside Adiala Jail late last night.
According to police, the FIR was lodged at Sadar Bairuni Police Station under various provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The case names 35 accused individuals and includes charges against approximately 400 people.
Those nominated in the FIR include Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, Qasim Khan, Salman Akram Raja and Aliya Hamza. Other named suspects include Naeem Haider Panjotha, Tabish Farooq, Tayyaba Raja, Nadia Khattak, Haroon, Raja Asad Abbas, Zafar Gondal, Shafqat Abbas and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
The FIR also includes Section 120, relating to criminal conspiracy to wage or plan an attack against the state. According to the contents of the case, 14 accused were arrested from the spot last night and have been produced before an anti-terrorism court.
Police allege that the accused violated Section 144, attacked police personnel, raised slogans against the government and state institutions, blocked roads and incited others to protest. The FIR states that the demonstration caused serious inconvenience to the local population.
It further alleges that despite repeated warnings by police, the protesters continued to interfere in official duties, resorted to stone-pelting, hurled glass bottles at police and resisted law enforcement, during which the uniforms of several police officers were torn.
