Petition Filed in Karachi Court Seeking FIR Against Indian Film *Dhurandhar* for Alleged Misrepresentation of PPP and Benazir Bhutto

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — A Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) worker, Muhammad Aamir, has filed a constitutional petition in a Karachi court against the Indian film *Dhurandhar*, demanding the registration of a criminal case over alleged unauthorized use of party symbols and defamatory portrayal.

According to Express News, the petitioner stated that the film’s official trailer includes images of PPP Chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, the party flag, and scenes of PPP rallies without permission. He alleged that the trailer wrongly depicts the PPP as a political party supporting terrorists, calling it a malicious and fabricated propaganda campaign.

The petition, filed in the court of the District and Sessions Judge South, seeks the registration of an FIR against the film’s director Aditya Dhar, producers Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Kishore Deshpande, actors Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Beni, cinematographer Vikas Nowlakha, editor Shiv Kumar V. Panicker, and other unknown members of the film crew.

The petitioner further argued that the film’s promotional content portrays Karachi — particularly Lyari — as a war-torn, terrorist-infested area, which he termed highly provocative, baseless, and damaging to the city’s reputation. He warned that such depictions could harm Pakistan’s image internationally.

According to the petition, the trailer incites hatred, contempt, and hostility against the PPP, its leadership, and its workers, constituting offenses under Sections 499, 500, 502, 504, 505, 153-A, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Muhammad Aamir stated that he had earlier submitted a written complaint to the SHO of Darakshan Police Station, but no FIR was registered nor any legal action taken, compelling him to approach the court.

The petition requests the court to order the immediate registration of an FIR, direct the SSP South to oversee a transparent and impartial investigation, and ensure that all responsible individuals associated with the film are included in the inquiry.
