Wave of Departures from PTI Continues as Key Leader Joins PPP

Islamabad — The stream of political figures leaving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continues, with a major leader from Layyah, Sajad Hussain—popularly known as *Sajan Khan*—formally joining the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). His induction was announced in the presence of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who warmly welcomed him into the party.
During the meeting, the custodian of the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Bahu, *Sahibzada Najeeb Sultan*, also met Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and announced his full support for the PPP. As a prominent figure from an influential religious family, his endorsement is being seen as a significant political development in the region. According to PPP leaders, his support will strengthen the party’s position in South Punjab and offer a strategic electoral advantage.
Additionally, Brigadier (Retd.) Asim Nawaz, former city nazim Tahir Awan, and several other local political leaders also announced their decision to join the PPP after meeting Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. Party sources say that the inclusion of Brig. (R) Asim Nawaz will prove to be a valuable addition to the PPP’s broader political strategy.
It is worth noting that just a few days earlier, PTI’s Tehsil President Major (Retd.) Tariq Mahmood publicly announced his resignation from PTI during a press conference. Since then, the number of PTI leaders shifting allegiance to the PPP has continued to rise.
Political analysts observe that the PPP appears to be successfully strengthening its electoral influence in South Punjab. The steady inflow of support from religious figures, local power players, and retired military officials indicates growing confidence in Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s leadership and signals that the party’s political strategy in the region is gaining momentum.
