Bilawal Bhutto Welcomes “Historic” Verdict, Says Decision Clearly Shows Faiz Hameed Acted Illegally

Chiniot — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday hailed the military court’s verdict regarding former senior army official Faiz Hameed, calling it a “historic decision” that sends a clear message that Hameed was involved in unlawful activities.

Speaking to the media in Chiniot, Bilawal said the case against Faiz Hameed is still ongoing, but today’s ruling marks an important milestone. “The decision delivered today clearly shows that Faiz Hameed was engaged in illegal actions. He will still have forums available for appeal,” he added.

Commenting on political developments, Bilawal said no formal discussion on imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken place yet, though it remains a constitutional option. He alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is “forcing the federation” into such circumstances through its confrontational politics.

“During the PTI government, Maryam Nawaz and Faryal Talpur were targeted. Today, Imran Khan himself is in jail — this is the law of nature catching up,” he remarked. He added that the former prime minister introduced toxic political traditions and promoted a culture of hatred and division.

Bilawal further said the establishment of the new Constitutional Court is a major victory for the PPP’s ideology and manifesto. “We have now created a constitutional court — this is a significant achievement for the party,” he said.

He emphasized that all stakeholders should work together to ease the federal government’s challenges, especially economic ones. “We can reduce the federation’s hardships without compromising provincial autonomy. The PPP will continue to support efforts to stabilize the economy,” he assured.

Bilawal acknowledged that citizens are facing economic hardships but stressed the need for collective efforts to improve the situation.
