Targeted Attacks on Army Unacceptable; We Won’t Allow Rift Between People and Military, Says Bilawal Bhutto

Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman **Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari** has said that while his party is open to political criticism, targeting the Pakistan Army with verbal attacks “day and night” is unacceptable. He expressed these views while speaking to the media after offering condolences to the family of PPP leader Zubaida Jafri in Baghbanpura.
Bilawal said Pakistan is once again passing through a sensitive phase, and it is the responsibility of every citizen and political force to remain united and stand firmly with the armed forces.
Discussing regional security, he said that for a long time he has been warning about Afghanistan, claiming that terrorists receive assistance from neighboring countries. “Terrorists martyr our people, soldiers, and police officers and then escape to Afghanistan,” he added.
Bilawal said Pakistan’s internal challenges are also evident, lamenting that certain groups attack state institutions during times of crisis and have put their own political party in difficulty.
Without naming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he urged political opponents to focus on public issues instead of maligning national institutions. “We are available to face your political criticism, but what is this that you abuse the army day and night and expect us to stay silent? Their agenda is to create a rift between the army and the people. We will never allow that,” he said.
