PTI Slams Government’s “Dark Record” on Human Rights Day, Says Imran Khan and Workers Targeted with Revenge

Islamabad: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accused the government of presiding over the worst period of human rights violations in the country’s recent history.

In a statement issued by the party’s Central Media Department, PTI said that while the world is observing Human Rights Day, Pakistan is witnessing “systematic suppression of fundamental rights” under the current government. The party noted that the Constitution guarantees civil liberties and the rule of law, yet these rights have been “trampled under a deliberate and organized plan.”

PTI alleged that Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been subjected to extreme political revenge, while senior leaders including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Dr. Yasmin Rashid remain imprisoned in “fabricated cases.” The statement also condemned the treatment of PTI’s women leaders and workers, calling it a blatant violation of the global human rights charter.

The party further claimed that the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments were used to undermine the independence of Parliament and the judiciary, while the media was “chained and silenced.”

Reaffirming its commitment, PTI vowed to continue its struggle against what it described as a “dark era of rights violations” in Pakistan.
