Gilgit-Baltistan Caretaker CM Orders Electricity Meters Installed in Homes Within Two Weeks

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — The Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan has directed government employees to have electricity meters installed in their homes within two weeks, warning that action will be taken against those using electricity without meters.

The order came during a meeting of the Power Steering Committee, chaired by Justice (Retired) Yar Muhammad. The Chief Minister also instructed the immediate removal of special electricity lines.

To reduce load-shedding, he emphasized that unscheduled power cuts should be strictly avoided and electricity must be supplied according to the designated schedule.

The caretaker CM directed equitable distribution of electricity in the three major cities and ordered a crackdown on illegal electrical appliances and connections. He also instructed the formation of conservation committees at the neighborhood level to monitor illegal connections.

Provincial task forces will supervise the conservation committees, while the electricity department has been directed to strictly adhere to load management and scheduled power supply.
