Jirga Forces Eight Men to Walk on Burning Embers Over Theft Suspicion in Musakhel; One Arrested

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — In a shocking incident in Balochistan’s Musakhel district, a local jirga forced eight individuals to walk over burning embers after they were suspected of involvement in a shop theft. Authorities have arrested one jirga member, while a search is underway for the remaining suspects.

According to Musakhel Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Khajjak, the incident occurred in Kot Khan Muhammad, where a shopkeeper convened a jirga following a theft at his store. During the proceedings, jirga members ordered eight men—suspected of the theft—to walk across blazing embers as a form of “trial.”

DC Khajjak stated that, surprisingly, none of the eight individuals sustained injuries despite being forced to walk on the burning coals.

The district administration took immediate notice of the illegal jirga and nominated seven individuals for their role in the unlawful act. One accused has been arrested, while raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. Authorities expect the remaining arrests to be made by morning.

The incident has sparked concern over the continued use of illegal jirga practices and the need for strict action to uphold the rule of law.
