Atta Tarar Says Governor’s Rule Will Be Justified If Imposed

Islamabad: Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that if Governor’s Rule is imposed, it will come with proper justification. He stated that the provision for Governor’s Rule arises when there is a clear governance failure.
Speaking on Geo News’ morning program, the minister said that Governor’s Rule becomes an option when a provincial government fails to maintain law and order, counter terrorism, or address major governance issues. He added that the public has rejected the anti-army narrative, which is why people did not attend the Peshawar rally.
Tarar said that the culture of recommendations has been eliminated in the FBR, and according to Transparency International’s survey, 66% of people reported not giving bribes for official work. He added that the government has prioritized transparency and merit, helping the country move from the threat of default toward stability and growth.
He said that IMF-mandated reforms and Pakistan’s exit from the FATF grey list have strengthened the economy, and the IMF has praised the government’s reform structure.
The minister also spoke about the sugar sector, saying that during the PTI government, a 2019 report indicated sugar shortage and proposed halting exports. However, he claimed that the current government only allowed sugar exports when there was surplus stock. The IMF’s report also referenced issues in the sugar sector during the PTI era.
He added that the government is moving toward deregulation. The Prime Minister launched a crackdown on sugar hoarders, and now every sugar bag leaving the mills carries a QR code for traceability.
Attaullah Tarar said that sugar hoarding is no longer possible, sugar prices have decreased, and price stability has been achieved.
