Speaker Punjab Assembly Warns of Domestic Turmoil, Criticizes PTI for Destabilizing Pakistan

Lahore: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, **Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan**, has expressed deep concern over the state of Pakistan’s internal affairs, stating that the country appears to be pushed toward chaos and political instability.

Speaking at a press conference in the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan emphasized that political instability would negatively impact the economy. He further stated that if even a single political case against any of his rivals is proven, he would resign.

Criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Speaker questioned the party’s stance toward Parliament and the military, saying, “You yourselves are a product of the military. How can you speak against it? What kind of popularity is this when you suffered a crushing defeat in my constituency? Have mercy on this country.”

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also alleged that the Supreme Court was used to target a single political party, with **35 cases filed before five judges against one party**, describing it as a coordinated campaign to eliminate a political opponent.

He referred to a conversation with a prominent figure who reportedly told PTI’s founder that political revenge through false cases and attacks on businesses had severely harmed the country, to which the founder allegedly replied that stopping would end his political career. The Speaker condemned this, asking, “Is your politics based on filing false cases and destroying people’s homes?”

Reflecting on past events, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that the **May 9 incident followed May 10**, which he described as a moment of national pride that showcased Pakistan’s strength internationally. He criticized PTI leaders for inflammatory statements against Sindh, stating that such rhetoric endangered the Pakistani military and challenged its authority.

He recalled the **attacks on May 9**, including arson on 27 military cantonments, the torching of the Lahore Corps Commander’s residence, and desecration of the national flag, asserting that these actions were premeditated and part of a deliberate conspiracy rather than spontaneous events.

The Speaker’s remarks underscore growing concerns over political instability and the perceived threat to state institutions in Pakistan.
