Lahore High Court Summons FIA, Punjab Quran Board Over Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza’s Petition

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has sought responses from the Director General of FIA and the Chairman of the Punjab Quran Board following a petition filed by Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.

Justice Shahram Sarwar heard the petition, in which Mirza challenged investigations initiated by the FIA. The petition names both the FIA and the Punjab Quran Board as respondents. Engineer Mirza filed the petition through Advocate Nabeel Javed Kahloon.

The petition states that the FIA started investigations without issuing any notice to the petitioner. Furthermore, it claims that the FIA forwarded a video from social media to the Punjab Quran Board for a fatwa, and the board, based on an old video, declared the petitioner guilty.

The petitioner contends that the Punjab Quran Board has no authority to issue such fatwas and is solely responsible for overseeing the publication of the Quran.

Engineer Mirza requested the court to declare the fatwa issued against him null and void and to order the termination of the ongoing investigations.
