Ranveer Singh Faces New Controversy Over Alleged Mockery of Hindu Deities

Islamabad — Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who was recently criticized for imitating actor Rishabh Shetty, is now facing a fresh controversy over allegations of hurting religious sentiments.
A complaint has been filed against him at the High Grounds Police Station in Bangalore by local lawyer Prashant Methal, claiming that Singh allegedly insulted the Hindu tradition of *Bhuta Kola* and deities (*Deva*), thereby offending religious sentiments. Police officials confirmed that an FIR has not yet been registered, but pressure from Hindu extremist groups is mounting.
Reports say a mob attempted to surround the police station in protest, but authorities managed to control the situation. Extremist elements are reportedly still on the lookout for further opportunities to cause unrest.
So far, Ranveer Singh has remained silent on the issue, and his legal team is reportedly reviewing the matter before taking action.
The controversy stems from Singh’s performance at the closing ceremony of a film awards show in Goa, where he imitated Rishabh Shetty’s character from the film *Kantara*. Following the act, social media erupted in criticism, prompting Singh to issue a clarification on Instagram, stating: “Brothers and sisters! My only intention was to appreciate Rishabh Shetty’s performance. There was no question of disrespecting any tradition, culture, or belief.”
Despite the clarification, anger persisted, and the Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti filed a police complaint alleging that Singh had insulted the deity Devi Chamunda during his performance.
This marks the second legal complaint against Ranveer Singh in two different states following a single performance. Meanwhile, the actor is also busy promoting his new film *Dhurandhar*, which released today.
