Indian Actress Jayati Bhatia Says Dipika Kakar Embraced Islam by Personal Choice

**Mumbai:** Indian television actress Jayati Bhatia has revealed that her fellow actress and friend Dipika Kakar did not embrace Islam in 2018 because of her marriage to actor Shoaib Ibrahim.

Speaking in a recent interview, Jayati said Dipika was going through a difficult phase in her life when she visited the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, where she found peace and emotional strength.

According to Jayati, Dipika later decided to embrace Islam of her own free will, and the decision was not connected to her marriage.

“She told me herself that it was completely her personal choice,” Jayati said.

The senior actress also rejected the perception that Dipika had adopted her husband’s religion because of marital pressure. She said Dipika and Shoaib have consistently supported each other throughout their relationship.

Jayati added that after Shoaib was diagnosed with cancer in 2025, Dipika stood by him through every stage, while Shoaib has also supported Dipika during difficult periods.

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim got married in 2018. The couple has a three-year-old son, Ruhaan.
