Individual’s Narrative Threatening National Security, No Rift Between Army and People Will Be Allowed: DG ISPR

Islamabad — Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has declared that a certain individual has become a threat to Pakistan’s national security, stressing that no one will be allowed to create divisions between the people and the armed forces.
Addressing a detailed press conference in Islamabad, the DG ISPR said the individual in question believes that “if I am not there, nothing should exist,” adding that his personal ambitions and ego have grown larger than the State itself. He said the individual’s narrative has become dangerous for national security and that the time has come to end this “fake narrative,” as his politics has already ended.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif clarified that the Pakistan Army represents neither any political party nor any sect, ethnicity, or school of thought. “We are not from any elite class; we come from the middle class of this country,” he said, stressing that attacks on the military or its leadership for personal motives are unacceptable. He said political parties are free to pursue their politics, but dragging the army into political disputes will not be tolerated.
He strongly warned that inciting the people against the armed forces would never be accepted. “The same army stands between the people of Pakistan and the threats of Khawarij militants and India,” he added.
During the press conference, the DG ISPR presented a video showing that certain Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media accounts were being operated from Afghanistan and India. He also played a controversial clip of Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, from an interview with India’s Republic TV, in which she suggested that the KP government should attack Adiala Jail to free Imran Khan.
According to the DG ISPR, Noreen Khan’s remarks were amplified by Afghan-based militant networks, PTI facilitators, and Indian media to create unrest in Pakistan. He said foreign networks and hostile elements are actively trying to manipulate Pakistan’s internal matters through misinformation campaigns.
The DG ISPR also criticized the individual for repeatedly making comparisons to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and for encouraging people to oppose intelligence-based operations. He accused him of inciting unrest and misleading the public, saying, “You can fool some people for some time, but not forever.”
He said propaganda against the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) notification was part of a coordinated campaign of misinformation. “Falsehood cannot be called freedom of expression,” he said, urging political actors to discuss real issues instead of targeting the army.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said the individual’s logic is flawed, pointing out that if India attacked, “he would carry a begging bowl asking for dialogue.” He added that the same person once suggested opening an office for militants in Peshawar. He said such thinking encourages violence and rebellion against state operations.
Reaffirming the army’s resolve, he said, “We have sworn an oath to protect this State. Anyone who believes they are bigger than Pakistan is mistaken. We stand by the truth and will continue to stand by it.”
Congratulating the newly appointed Chief of Defense Forces, he said the CDF headquarters has now become operational and will play a crucial role in coordinating national defense and war-related matters. He clarified that any decision regarding Governor’s Rule rests solely with the government, not the army.
Speaking on terrorism, he said militancy cannot be eliminated in a single day and that political patronage of terrorists has been observed. The DG ISPR reiterated that the State of Pakistan will not negotiate with the “Khawarij.”
He also highlighted that Indian media is acting as a “voice for PTI’s anti-state narrative” and that hostile foreign groups are promoting misinformation against Pakistan. He noted that even the KP Chief Minister’s statements are widely broadcast on Indian media.
Regarding the May 9 incidents, he said these cases are not the army’s issue but that of the Pakistani nation. All cases forwarded to military courts have been concluded, he added.
